Many Europeans and full-time cruisers have kept Turkey a closely guarded secret when it comes to sailing in that part of the Mediterranean.
The southwestern coast of Turkey is not only absolutely safe but is a sailors’ paradise with friendly locals who will give you a warm welcome, stunning scenery, mind blowing history and, like anywhere else in the Med, great food and delicious local wines.
The sailboat charter business in Turkey is booming. When we were in Croatia, last June, we were told that many of the regular European sailing customers had booked in Turkey this year and that this trend will continue in the next years to come.
As we are always looking for new destinations and adventures in the Med, we are now inviting you to join us for the 2021 ASA Turkey Flotilla from May 29 to June 5, 2021.
Our departure base will be in Fethiye which is 34 miles from Dalaman Airport. You can fly to Dalaman via Istanbul but there are several budget airlines that fly to Dalaman from main European airports.
Day 1: Fethiye – ECE Marina:
We visit the town, do our provisioning and get in vacation mode. Welcome and get-acquainted reception. Check-in of the yachts around 17:00.
Day 2: Kapi Creek:
The following morning we head out to one of the many beautiful anchorages for a refreshing swim and will spend the night moored in Kapi Creek. If you ever wondered where the term “turquoise waters” comes from, search no further… It is from Turkey…

Day 3: Kapi Creek to Ekincik:
We sail from Kapi Creek to Ekincik, where we dock at the My Marina facilities, with showers, shore power and water, or we can anchor in the bay. Land excursion to the ruins of ancient Kaunos.

From Marmaris, we sail to Ciftlik and will dock at one of the several restaurant. Let’s go to the local little beach and enjoy some swimming and sun bathing.
Day 6: Ciftlik to Sarsala Koyu: Sarsala is a lovely bay with a small restaurant. We can anchor out for the night after a refreshing swim and some snorkeling.
Day 7: Sarsala Koyu to Fethiye ECE marina: Time to head back to the ECE marina across the bay but let’s make some stops for swimming in picturesque anchorages like at the Yassica Islands. Arrival at the charter base in the late afternoon. Check-out by 09:00 the following morning.
