Overview

Explore Montenegro with us! This Balkan country has not yet been flooded by American sailors, and we are one of the first flotillas to offer a cross-border journey from Croatia. Located between Croatia and Albania, this fascinating country is a treasure throve of history, great sailing, unique tourist attractions, and great Mediterranean food. Plenty of exciting experiences await you in Montenegro. Swim in a blue cave, anchor out for the night in front of the medieval city of Budva and enjoy a delicious dinner ashore. Visit the most luxurious yacht marina in the Mediterranean at Porto Montenegro. Discover the Perast islands with its historic church of St. Mary of the Rocks and spend the night in the medieval city of Kotor. Climb up the mountain to its St John Fortress. A spectacular panorama rewards the efforts of the adventurous hiker. During our sailing trip, you will see brand new marinas, medieval monasteries and abandoned Cold War military installations.

DUBROVNIKOLDTOWN

Saturday

We recommend that you arrive on Thursday before the start of the flotilla in Dubrovnik and visit the Old Town on Friday. It’s worth it! We will meet at the ACI Dubrovnik Marina in Komolac around lunchtime. The marina has excellent shower facilities, restaurants, and a nice pool. After lunch, under the guidance of “Admiral” Mila, we will do our provisioning. If everything runs smoothly, we anticipate a departure around 17:00. We sail to the small but charming port of Cavtat, where we will spend the night and go for dinner.

SUNDAY

We clear out of Croatia with Customs in Cavtat and head out, along the coast, to Montenegro where we clear Montenegrin Customs in Zelenika followed by a very short trip to the luxurious and modern Marina Lazur, where we will spend the night. Opportunity to visit nearby Herceg Novi. We recommend having dinner in the excellent restaurant of the marina.

WEDNESDAY

We set off early for Kotor, navigating the narrow strait between Sveta Nedjelja and Opatovo points—watch for the ferries! Once past, the stunning Perast Islands come into view. Otok Sveti Jura is a natural island, rumored to be haunted and off-limits. In contrast, Gospa od Skrpjela is an enchanting artificial island with a beautiful Byzantine church and museum that you can visit. After exploring Perast, we sail to the medieval city of Kotor, known as the city of cats—be ready to spot plenty of them! We’ll dock at the municipal marina, where you can wander the charming streets and hike to St. John Fortress, 919 feet above the city. The climb rewards you with breathtaking views and a well-deserved dinner at our favorite restaurant, the Galion.

THURSDAY

This will be a long day back to Cavtat in Croatia. After checking out of Montenegro with Customs, in Porto Novi, we sail back to Cavtat in Croatia. Depending on the weather and sea conditions, we may clear that same night into Croatia or will have to wait on board, with our yellow Q flag up, until Friday morning. If we clear on Thursday, we can have dinner ashore. If not, we will have dinner on the yachts.

FRIDAY

The Old Town of Dubrovnik seen from the sea is impressive and we will have ample opportunity to take pictures on our way back to the marina, up the river, in Komolac. After refueling and docking, we check-out of the yachts but can spend the last night on board and enjoy the restaurants in or around the marina. This ACI marina has great facilities and a large pool by the bar. A nice way to end this trip
