Overview

This is a one-way trip starting at the ACI Marina in Dubrovnik and ending in Marina Baotić, near medieval Trogir, about 20 miles from Split. During the week, you will visit amazing places and discovering the local culture and gastronomy. It is a unique way to combine practicing your sailing skills with an unforgettable vacation. If you are flying in directly from North America, we recommend that you arrive on Thursday to give you some time to get over the jetlag and to discover the beauty of Dubrovnik with its rich history. We will organize an optional walking tour in Dubrovnik for Friday with a get-together on Friday night to get to know our fellow crew members and go over the week’s program.

Itinerary

We recommend that you arrive on Thursday before the start of the flotilla in Dubrovnik and visit the Old Town on Friday. It’s worth it!

SATURDAY

We meet at the ACI Dubrovnik Marina in Komolac around lunchtime. The marina has excellent shower facilities, restaurants, and a nice pool. After lunch, under the guidance of “Admiral” Mila, we will do our provisioning. If everything runs smoothly, we anticipate a departure around 17:00. We sail down the Rijeka Dubrovaca River, under the bridge and into the protected inside passage on the north side of the Elaphiti Islands. We will spend the night on the hook in the bay of Zaton. Dinner on board or on shore.

Ston

SUNDAY

Early departure to the city of Ston, about 18NM away, where you will be able to walk the longest defensive wall in Europe. You can hike from Ston to Mali Ston and enjoy the panoramic views of the historic salt flats that made the Ragusa Republic, as Dubrovnik was then called, very wealthy.  Dinner at local restaurant.

MONDAY

We have a 24 NM trip ahead of us to the Bay of Polace on the island of Mljet. This is a nature park, where we can Med moor at a local restaurant for a typical Dalmatian Peka dinner. Before dinner, you can hike to a lake where a medieval Benedictine abbey is located on a small island.

TUESDAY

We can take our time to leave as we will only have a short distance to sail – about 14NM – to the city of Korčula, the home of Marco Polo. Although a small city, Korčula is chockful of history. The cathedral is worth visiting and you have a great choice of restaurants to enjoy the local cuisine. Check out the ingenious way they have designed their streets to take advantage of the cooling breezes in the summer and protect themselves from the cold ones during the winter. We will dock for the night at the local ACI Marina and replenish our water tanks.  Dinner out, many of great restaurants in town.

Scedro

WEDNESDAY

We have a 24 NM journey to Lovisce Bay on Šćedro Island, a small nature park near Hvar. Lovisce Bay is scenic and well-protected, where we’ll spend the night on mooring balls.  There are a few konobas (small restaurants) nearby, and you can choose to dine aboard or go ashore for a meal.

Hvar

THURSDAY

We’ll set sail for Hvar, heading to the ACI Marina of Palmižana on St. Klement Island. From there, we’ll take a water taxi to the city of Hvar, where you’ll have the evening to explore its Venetian architecture, the Spanjola Fortress, and a variety of excellent restaurants. After dinner, we’ll return by water taxi to the marina to rest for the next day.
